Star Trek: Omnipedia - Premier Edition takes you into the world of Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry. Episodes from the original series, The Next Generation, and some episodes from Deep Space Nine as well as from the original movies are all represented on this CD-ROM.

The Star Trek Omnipedia contains information about every actor, device, place, and thing shown in the episodes that are represented on the disk. If you have a question about something you saw in an old episode, or can't remember the details on a certain person, place, or thing, you can find it in the Omnipedia.

While there are a few QuickTime movies and many pictures, most of the entries are in text format. The computer voice is provided by Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, Roddenberry's wife and former Nurse Chapel in the original series, or by Lwaxana Troi in The Next Generation. Additional commentary is provided by Mark Lenard, Sarek of Vulcan in both the original series and The Next Generation.

Based on the best selling Pocket Books publications The Star Trek Encyclopedia by Debbie Mirek, Michael Okuda and Denise Okuda and Star Trek Chronology, also by the Okudas, Star Trek Omnipedia is a voice-activated reference guide to the Star Trek universe. There are nearly 6,000 entries of hyper-linked information including a history of the future, a list of actors and roles, ship diagrams, 100 video and audio clips, 2,000 color photos and pictures of various uniforms.

The Omnipedia is designed to look and sound like a 24th century Interactive Technical Manual. The screen has an upper (index) and lower (information) window with material organized for access via Encyclopedia, Episode, Chronology, Resources, Topics and Search modes. The interface can work with speech recognition, which completes the Federation computer simulation by adding audio responsiveness to Majel Barret's voice-overs.

This is a compilation of information from two books The Star Trek Encyclopedia by Debbie Mirek, Michael Okuda and Denise Okuda and Star Trek Chronology, also by the Okudas. The presentation also includes film clips and videos from the various Star Trek media iterations (television episodes and movies).
